The reason is simple. Sokcho's beaches have all closed for the season, with Deungdae Beach the last to shut on August 30. Water without lifeguards on duty is not a designated swimming area, and that is exactly why accidents outside designated beaches repeat year after year. So even though the fine condition of 0.3 m waves is still there, the people who can use it are not swimmers but those who want to go fishing, take a sightseeing cruise, or walk the coast. Many listings put adult admission at around 6,000–7,000 KRW, so it is safer to call ahead and confirm the day's price and closing time before you go.
- 속초 얼라이브 하트 — An indoor theme hall centered on trick art, divided into Adventure Land, Neon Land, and Sweet Land, with a cooperative mission-style Dynamic Maze on the second floor. It is laid out so you walk around taking photos, so once you go in you stay a long time, which means the later in the afternoon you arrive, the longer the wait.
- 한화리조트 설악 워터피아 — The only one of the four that runs into the night. Day passes start at 10 AM, afternoon passes at 3 PM, and the night spa starts at 7 PM and ends at 9:30 PM. If it is already very crowded now, the 7 PM night spa slot is actually the option that catches less of the current.
